Tell us, Najat: Who are you actually and what is your role at FlexOffice JED?
I am Najat, Location Manager at FlexOffice JED. With a background in workplace experience and office management in the tech and startup world, I'm here to share my expertise and serve the FlexOffice community in the best possible way. My job is to create a pleasant and productive environment in which our members feel comfortable and can achieve their work goals in the best possible way.
That means you are also the boss of the Swiss-wide innovation, the smart ventilation system?
Yes, exactly (smiles). We are very proud of the fact that we have introduced an innovative operating system in Building D based on the 22-26 principle. This concept enables a comfortable temperature of between 22 and 26 degrees Celsius all year round - without any conventional heating or cooling system. The air quality and temperature are regulated by the waste heat from people and appliances and by sensor-controlled ventilation blades. The system is incredibly energy efficient and ensures that companies feel comfortable in our spaces. It's great to see how sustainable architecture and modern technology can make the working atmosphere even more pleasant while minimizing energy consumption.
The big opening day took place on October 3. What do you particularly remember about it?
The opening day was a very special event. It was inspiring to see how our members and guests came together to celebrate the new location. I was particularly impressed by the positive energy and interest in our innovative concept. The conversations, networking and feedback were consistently motivating. The various activities and exchanges that took place throughout the day showed how much potential there is in our new community.
What makes the JED Campus an exciting location for you and what goals are you pursuing here?
The JED Campus has a unique blend of history and innovation that particularly appeals to us as FlexOffice. It is a place that embodies change - from traditional industry to modern working and living spaces. Our aim is to support this change and create an environment in which companies can grow flexibly. The JED is also part of an emerging life sciences hub that is home to a diverse mix of spin-offs from ETH and the University of Zurich, as well as national and international biotech, pharma and life sciences companies. This gives us the opportunity to constantly expand our FlexOffice community and create new networks. We also want to offer our members the opportunity to benefit from this inspiring environment and make contacts that are crucial for their business and personal development.
How does the location on the JED Campus differ from other FlexOffice locations?
The location on the JED Campus is special due to its sustainable construction and the integration of state-of-the-art technologies. The 22-26 system is just one of the many examples of how we implement innovative solutions. In addition, the strategic location at the heart of a growing innovation campus makes it possible to cooperate with other companies and research
institutions and create synergies. Another aspect that sets JED apart from other locations is our focus on diversity in the work areas. We offer flexible workspaces and specialized meeting rooms that lend themselves to different formats, be it a formal board meeting, creative workshops or open brainstorming sessions.
What points of contact do you see between FlexOffice and the other tenants and the event location? And how could all companies benefit from each other?
There are numerous points of contact that result from the collaboration with other companies and JED Events. The proximity to the event location enables the flexible use of shared resources - for example, through the mutual integration of space and furniture as required. FlexOffice members also have access to the catering services of JED Events. This collaboration not only strengthens our community, but also helps to revitalize the location as a whole and create a vibrant network.
How important is it for you to maintain good relationships with the neighborhood? What ideas do you have for getting actively involved in the community?
Good relationships with the neighborhood are essential for me and our team. We want to play an active role in the campus community by organizing regular events and networking meetings where members can exchange ideas and learn from each other. We want to make sure that everyone feels welcome and can benefit from the many opportunities that FlexOffice offers. This also means that not only our members can use our meeting rooms, but also external parties. Our doors are always open and we are ready for any kind of request - be it for meetings, events or spontaneous get-togethers.
